Congratulations to both Drs. Timothy M. Finnegan and Jeffrey S. Mandel who recently achieved accreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as Surgeons of Excellence in Hernia Surgery. This accreditation recognizes both the surgeons’ and SouthCoast Health’s commitment to and high standard of delivery of quality patient care and safety.

Health care facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education, and continuous quality assessment.
Dr. Mandel is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He completed his medical degree at University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia before completing a surgical residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, New York.
Also board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Finnegan earned his medical degree at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. After a surgical internship at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, he completed his general surgery residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He then completed a fellowship in advanced bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
