Valentine's Day is here, and with it comes lots of delicious romantic dinners and yummy heart-shaped chocolates. While there's nothing wrong with splurging for the special occasion, working off the extra salt and sugar that accompany these things can be romantic as well. Here are some active ideas you and your significant other can do to celebrate or get back on track after all the indulgences of Valentine’s Day.
Head on over to Skidaway Island State Park and take advantage of the Sandpiper & Avian Loop Trails. You are sure to enjoy a nice hike or run on the two-trail combo that leads to islands and overlooks the Skidaway River. Make it an afternoon or evening trip and catch the beautiful sunset for an added dose of romance!
It might still be too cold to go swimming, but kayaking is a great alternative if you want to enjoy the water with your loved one. The coast is a pretty quick trip from most communities in The Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Check out the many access points along the Southeast Coastal Saltwater Paddling Trail for some great kayaking options. There are lots of retailers along the trail that rent kayaking equipment!
If you own bicycles, this is an easy one. Ride around your neighborhood or even to the closest town-center. If you don’t own bikes, make a day trip to downtown Savannah and rent a pair for the day. Check out Savannah on Wheels, which offers rentals and tours through historic downtown Savannah!
No matter where you live, this is an easy option for pet owners. This no-fuss activity is perfect for getting in a bit of exercise while walking around the block and checking a chore off your to-do list at the same time! Opt for a route that’s different than the usual to change things up and make the occasion special.
Whether you’re walking, hiking, biking, or paddling, there are lots of active ways to spend quality time with your loved one this week that will help get you back on a healthy track after Valentine’s Day.
