February is American Heart Month, which is a good time to check-in on your cardiovascular health. This year it's especially important to understand how symptoms of COVID-19 can affect our heart health. SouthCoast Health Roy D. Flood, Jr., M.D., FACC recently took the time this month to speak with local media about this topic.
There is a lot of emphasis on native impact of COVID-19 on the lungs, but it can cause problems for those already living with heart issues such as developing blood clots that bring about heart attacks, irregular heart rhythms, and difficulty controlling blood pressure.
“It's important now more than ever to be aware of your risk factors and family history,” say Dr. Flood. “Stay connected to your doctor because it could prevent serious issues.”
