SouthCoast Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Garrett White will serve as director to its newly launched hypertension clinic, the first and only one in the area, located on SouthCoast Health’s Eisenhower Dr. Campus. Operating with a more intensive approach, the clinic serves patients who are high risk for high blood pressure complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure. In addition, the clinic assists those who are poorly controlled under their current regimen. Dr. White works in collaboration with a nurse practitioner, a pharmacist, a nurse educator, and a dietician to address all of the aspects that affect hypertension and to control its outcomes.
While attempting to control these outcomes, the clinic allows Dr. White and his team to forge relationships with their patients. Many of these patients arrive with a myriad of challenges.
“When you hear high blood pressure and kidney disease, you think there’s no hope,” Dr. White said. “That’s why I’m grateful for the opportunity to problem solve each day and to take care of patients that I think are often times ignored in medicine or given up on.”
