SouthCoast Health’s Pediatrics Department offers comprehensive developmental assessments to monitor and evaluate your child's growth and progress in various domains. Our developmental assessments systematically evaluate cognitive, motor, language, social-emotional, and adaptive skills.
These assessments involve comparing a child's performance with that of peers from a representative sample of the population, recognizing that performance can vary significantly between different groups. For children under age 3, we focus on assessing cognition, communication, behavior, social interaction, motor and sensory abilities, and adaptive skills.
Our specialists use a combination of observation, structured tests, and questionnaires filled out by parents or caregivers. The results of these evaluations help determine whether a child needs special treatments, early intervention services, or both.
