Serving the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire of Georgia and South Carolina.
Dr. Rose Ruffo was born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia. After earning her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Georgia, majoring in biological science, she received her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Ruffo then completed her pediatrics residency at University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL.
“I went into medicine with the intention of becoming a pediatrician,” Dr. Ruffo says. “At my core, I would say I have a nurturing personality, and I love children." Dr. Ruffo practices the full spectrum of pediatrics, treating patients from birth to young adulthood. “Being able to work with children and play a role in their health is truly such a privilege,” Dr. Ruffo explains. “I love having the opportunity to follow a child from infancy to adolescence. It is my goal to create meaningful, longstanding relationships with not only my patients, but also their families.”
Dr. Ruffo is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Additionally, she’s participated in research projects as well as co-authored presentations at medical conventions and symposiums. Her desire to remain aware of the latest developments and best practices in pediatrics has Dr. Ruffo consistently reading medical journals and pediatric publications, and listening to acclaimed medical podcasts.
“I really love the preventative care component of pediatrics and the opportunity for youth empowerment,” Dr. Ruffo says, “providing education, encouraging healthy behaviors, and setting the tone for their future health. That’s really important to me.”
When she’s not working, Dr. Ruffo enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughter, and their dog. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, baking, painting, and traveling.
